Sport Premium Overview – Simonside Primary School

‘Dream, Believe and Achieve’

‘At Simonside Primary School we believe PE and Sport plays an important role in making our school vision ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve’ a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change our young people’s lives for the better. We believe that physical education is a vital and unique contributor to our children’s physical health and well-being and aim to provide all of our children with high quality physical activity experiences that will lead to lifelong participation and fitness.’

PE Premium Allocation  £18,180 Academic year 2024/2025

The purpose of the PE and sport premium grant is for schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

This means schools must use the PE and sport premium to:

  • build capacity and capability within the school and ensure that improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity provision made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years; and
  • develop or add to the PE, sport and physical activity that the school provides

This means that you should use the premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
  • build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years.

For reporting from July 2025 all schools must complete the digital form outlining how the school has used its PE and sport premium and the impact it has had on achieving the aims and objectives of the funding. The information that will need to be entered onto the form includes:

  • figures on the overall spend
  • what the funding has been spent on
  • whether there is any unspent funding
  • swimming and water safety attainment

OFSTED Report Good – Jan 2020

Pupils attend a range of extra-curricular activities. These are available at lunchtime and after school. This supports their personal development. Parents appreciate this offer. They say it helps their children flourish.

OFSTED Report Good -  April 2016

‘Physical education (PE) and sport funding is used effectively to raise staff expertise in the teaching of PE. Specialist PE coaches work alongside school staff and the school has provided many additional opportunities to enhance sporting skills. These include participation in a range of sporting competitions with other schools and opportunities for pupils to become involved in after-school clubs.’
