Simonside Dodgeball Success!

28th November 2017

Today 10 children in Key Stage 2 travelled to Throckley Primary School to take part in a dodgeball competition against other schools in the Outer West Learning Trust. We were all very excited to take part and show our amazing dodgeball skills.

During our 4 group games we played fantastically as a team, showing respect to other teams and remembering to be honest when we were out of the game. There were some amazing individual efforts from our team captain, Kai and vice-captain, Lucy. Owen in Y6 also stood out making a double catch during a game, something I have never seen before! After our group games we sat nervously waiting to hear if we would make it to the finals. WE MADE IT… Finishing top in our group.

In the finals the team showed outstanding teamwork and determination throughout, especially George in Y3 who was left as the only player battling it out at the very end of the game. We were unfortunately narrowly beaten into 2nd place by Throckley Primary, but we made sure we kept up our brilliant sportsmanship by congratulating the winning team and thanking the officials. The children should all feel very proud of themselves finishing 2nd place out of 7 schools and for an amazing afternoon of sport.

Myself and Mrs. Davidson were both very proud of all the children who took part, they were a credit to Simonside School and demonstrated the sporting values perfectly. A huge well done to Kai, Lucy, Fletcher, Owen, Michael, Amelia, Janet, Matthew, Tyler & George.

Thank you for a fantastic afternoon. What a way to end the week.
